INOVASI MEDIA EDUKASI “PADU MANIS” DALAM MENINGKATKAN KESADARAN REMAJA TERHADAP KONSUMSI SUGAR SWEETENED BEVERAGES
Abstract
Abstrak: Konsumsi minuman berpemanis atau Sugar Sweetened Beverages (SSB) yang tinggi menjadi faktor utama peningkatan prevalensi diabetes melitus pada remaja secara global dalam dua dekade terakhir.Di Surakarta, tren peningkatan diabetes terjadi paling banyak di Kecamatan Banjarsari. Hal ini menjadi latar belakang penelitian dalam melakukan pengabdian masyarakat berupa program edukasi pada 82 siswa SMPN 10 Kota Surakarta. Program edukasi yang diberikan menggunakan media Kipas Edukasi Minuman Manis “PADU MANIS” bertujuan untuk meningkatkan soft skill (persepsi dan sikap) serta hardskill (pengetahuan) siswa mengenai SSB. Untuk melihat adanya perubahan antara sebelum dan sesudah intervensi dilakukan pengumpulan data dengan kuesioner pre-test dan post-test terkait tiga domain tersebut, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan uji Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test pada SPSS ver 29. Hasil analisis uji Wilcoxon diperoleh p-value 0,000 (p < 0,05) pada ketiga domain tersebut, yang mengindikasikan terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara sebelum dan sesudah dilakukan edukasi. Hal ini menunjukkan siswa kini mampu mengidentifikasi bahaya konsumsi gula berlebih serta risiko diabetes melitus, sehingga program PADU MANIS berpotensi sebagai strategi preventif untuk meningkatkan kesadaran terhadap konsumsi SSB sejak dini.
Abstract: High consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages (SSBs) has been a major factor in the global rise in the prevalence of diabetes among adolescents over the past two decades. In Surakarta, the rising trend in diabetes is most pronounced in the Banjarsari subdistrict. This served as the background for a community service project involving an educational program for 82 students at SMPN 10 in Surakarta. The educational program, delivered using the “PADU MANIS” Sweet Drink Educational Fan, aimed to improve students’ soft skills (perceptions and attitudes) and hard skills (knowledge) regarding SSBs. To assess changes before and after the intervention, data were collected via pre-test and post-test questionnaires covering these three domains, then analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test in SPSS version 29. The results of the Wilcoxon test analysis yielded a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05) across all three domains, indicating a significant difference between pre- and post-education levels. This suggests that students are now able to identify the dangers of excessive sugar consumption and the risks of diabetes mellitus, indicating that the PADU MANIS program has the potential to serve as a preventive strategy for raising awareness about SSB consumption from an early age.
