PEMBERDAYAAN KELURAHAN PEDULI TUBERKULOSIS SEBAGAI UPAYA PENINGKATAN PENGETAHUAN DAN SIKAP MASYARAKAT TERHADAP TEMUAN KASUS TBC
Abstract
Abstract: Tuberculosis (TBC) remains a public health problem, characterised by a high caseload and delayed diagnosis due to a lack of knowledge and stigma. This community service activity aimed to improve the knowledge and skills of community health workers in the early detection of TBC through the ‘Kelurahan Peduli TBC’ programme. The partners in this activity were two neighbourhoods in Surakarta, the Gajahan and Gambirsari Community Health Centres, and university students, with a target of 75 participants comprising community health workers, PKK members, and community leaders. The methods used included awareness-raising sessions, educational lectures, interactive discussions, training for community health workers, and mentoring. Evaluation was conducted using pre- and post-tests with a 10-question questionnaire, as well as observation. The results showed an increase in the cadres’ knowledge, including an improvement in understanding of TB symptoms from 94.7% to 100%, knowledge of at-risk groups from 70.7% to 78.7%, and communication of screening results from 50.7% to 100%. The volunteers’ skills also improved to 93.3% in symptom identification and 90.7% in communicating screening results. It is recommended that the activities be continued through the strengthening of routine training, field mentoring, and the expansion of community networks to maintain and enhance the volunteers’ capacity.
