Abstract

Abstract: The partner farmers’ group owns equipment for producing liquid organic fertilizer (POC), but its utilization has not been optimal due to a weak collective equipment management system. This community service activity aims to enhance the institutional capacity of the farmers’ group by strengthening their skills in developing standard operating procedures (SOPs), managing administrative records and logbooks for equipment use, creating operational schedules, managing the dues system, the division of roles among equipment managers, and technical skills for the collective operation and maintenance of the shredder and POC fermentation vats. The activity was conducted on May 21, 2026, in Karo Regency, involving 38 members from two farmer groups. The methods used included Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA), participatory workshops, hands-on training, and administrative mentoring. The activity was evaluated through pre- and post-tests to measure participants’ knowledge gains, satisfaction questionnaires, and observations of participation and achievement of outcomes during the activity. The results showed the development of SOP documents for equipment use, an operational rotation schedule, group rules (rules of the game), an operational contribution system, and a monitoring logbook. Participants’ technical knowledge scores increased from 52.3 to 81.7 (on a scale of 100), the participant target was exceeded (127%), and 89.5% of participants attended all training sessions. A single batch of 22 liters of POC was successfully produced during the demonstration session. This activity contributed to increased member participation, institutional strengthening, and the sustainable optimization of POC production equipment utilization.
