EDUKASI BERBASIS SAINS SEBAGAI UPAYA MENGURANGI STIGMA OBESITAS PADA REMAJA MELALUI PENDEKATAN INTERAKTIF
Abstract
Abstract: Adolescent obesity is not only associated with health risks but may also contribute to the emergence of weight stigma and body shaming behaviors in the school environment. This community service activity aimed to improve students’ knowledge regarding obesity, balanced nutrition, and weight stigma prevention through a science-based education approach. This activity used a pre-experimental, one-group pretest–posttest design involving 142 junior high school students. The intervention used science-based education, interactive learning activities, educational games, Upstander Not Bystander role-play simulations, and a body-shaming prevention campaign. Evaluation was performed using pretest and posttest instruments to measure changes in students’ knowledge regarding obesity, balanced nutrition, and weight stigma prevention. The evaluation results demonstrated an increase in knowledge scores from 80.14 ± 12.32 before the education session to 83.52 ± 14.50 after the intervention (p<0.001). Science-based education with an interactive approach has the potential to improve students’ knowledge regarding obesity and support the strengthening of understanding related to weight stigma prevention in the school environment.
